Started in 1972 by the now retired Jim Thompson, the company has been
in continuous operation serving Vancouver Island's engine rebuilding requirements
for 35 years. We have been a member of <a href="http://www.aera.org/" target="_blank">AERA</a>
(Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association) for all that time, and have
computer access to their specifications and technical bulletins for literally
thousands of engines old and new. We strive for accuracy and dependability

<p>We are a full-service engine machine shop for automotive, industrial
and marine engines.<br>
Aside from top quality cylinder head rebuilding, valve-guide replacement,
head re-surfacing, thread repairs and cylinder boring, we offer many in-house
machining operations which are not always available at smaller machine
shops, such as Metco spray-welding and dynamic engine and driveshaft balancing.</p>
<p>We offer in-house services such as crank grinding, magnafluxing, Rockwell
hardness testing, straightening and crank journal welding. Our shop also
does camshaft grinding, cylinder sleeving, and diesel counterbore repairs
to salvage badly worn blocks. We also do I-beam axle-eye sleeving, and
machining of king-pin bushings. </p>
<p>We carry a large inventory of engine parts, including gaskets, automotive
camshafts, crank bearings, timing components, rocker arms, pushrods, piston
rings, lifters, valve springs, flywheel ring-gears and more, at very competitive
prices. We also carry in stock exchange/rebuilt cylinder heads for many
automotive applications, both domestic and import. </p>
<p>We are an authorized
re-seller for A & I Diesel, <a href="http://www.arp-bolts.com">ARP</a>, ACL Bearings, <a href="http://www.compcams.com/" target="_blank">CompCams</a>, <a href="http://www.engineparts.com" target="_blank">CLEVITE</a>,
<a href="http://www.cloyes.com/" target="_blank">Cloyes</a>, Federal Mogul (including FP Diesel), Hastings Rings, <a href="http://www.emhart.com" target="_blank">Helicoil</a>,
<a href="http://www.melling.com/" target="_blank">Melling</a> oil pumps & camshafts, Pioneer engine components, S.B.I. valves,
guides & seats. Thompson Automotive Machine is also a member of a
nationwide buying group which gives us access to thousands of engine parts
from over 35 warehouses in Canada and the U.S.A. So if we don't have the
engine part you are looking for, we might be able to locate it for you.</p>
